Blueprinter ApS, a Danish based company set up in 2009 is about to launch an office 3D printer with a totally new technology called Selective Heat Sintering. The SHS™ technology delivers professional plastic 3D models comparable to laser sintering quality, only more simple and affordable.
They unveiled their new technology at Euromold 2011 and started selling the printer in 2012. The companies aim was to develop an affordable printer for small- and medium sized businesses. They discovered that a thermal printhead could be deployed in the same way as a laser. This discovery became the basis of their novel technology.
The new SHS™ technology is the new economic alternative for the creation of inexpensive prototypes. Several 3D models can be loaded and printed at the same time and printing solid models can be done in a short period of time. There is no need for supporting materials or post-curing of models. Interested consumers are already welcomed to pre-order the 3D printer on their official site www.blueprinter.dk.
The introduction price of the Blueprinter is set on €9.995 and the cost of the thermoplastic powder is €49,- per KG.
