The next level for 3D printing is that it could be taught at schools in order to let young people get to know more about new techniques. Teachers from the Orange County School Department of Education know all about it, since they received a masterclass on how to build a 3D printer, by company Airwolf 3D.
This already happened last month, but it’s still funny to see as many as 18 teachers working on building a 3D printer. They assembled at 8 am on a Saturday to receive this masterclass. Horrible timing, folks. Anyway, you can see it in the video below.
In addition to this, in November we got the news that MakerBot aims to put a 3D printer in every school, which is of course a marketing campaign in the first place, but it also says something about the need of adding 3D printers to the world’s school system. Another question to be asked is the following: if America wants a 3D printer in every school, what will other countries do to serve student’s needs of building up technical knowledge?
