Their ChefJet food printer has been delayed until the second half of the year, but in the mean time we can talk about the CocoJet 3D printer, which will be a machine that creates chocolate figures. Once again, 3D Systems tries to innovate with a machine that prints sugary food. Obviously, this has a lot to do with their partnership with Hershey’s.
Have you ever heard of the company Nea 3D? Probably not, as this is a relatively new voice in the world of 3D printing. It’s easy to imagine that it could be hard for them to keep up with the big ones, such as MakerBot and 3D Systems, so what can they do to survive? Come up with an affordable, and easy-to-use 3D printer. Oh yeah, and do something with crowdfunding. Well, Nea 3D understands the world of 3D printers and chooses for both options. The company aims to bring 3D printers to the market that are wi-fi connectable, modular and equipped with auto-bed leveling and vibration damping. The not too expensive printers will likely be sold through a crowdfunding campaign.
And what to think of the AW3D HR-R from Airwolf 3D? This company showed a 3D printer which you can control with an app on your smart phone. In order to properly monitor the printing process, it uses a camera. Controlling your 3D printer on your smart phone is a very handy thing, but what if you’re already a user of Airwolf, and you do not have a wi-fi capable printer. Well, the company now seems to offer an upgrade kit for current users to make their 3D printers wi-fi capable.
3D printing technology continues to evolve. Every time you think it can’t get crazier than this, it gets crazier. Voxel8 is a company that wants to create an electronics printer. It works as follows: they print conductive silver ink into thermoplastic objects. Because of this, they can embed motors and LED lights into the objects during the printing process. Using this technology, it could become easier to create electronic devices with complex shapes. However, you will probably not be printing out your own LED lights any time soon, as the printer will cost you about 9000 dollars.
