Flatbackfilms just released a new service with their retro-creativity iPhone app called ‘Voxel’.
For three years enthusiastic fans of Lego, Minecraft and old-school video games have been building cool models with Voxel on their iPhones and iPads. Now you have the opportunity to make real flesh-and-blood (well, plastic) sculptures from your creations. The newest version features an integration with the 3D-print service Sculpteo. For as little as nine dollars you can print a multicolored plastic version of your own creation.
Building with Voxel is easy, the simple but powerful tools take full advantage of the multi-touch capability in iOS devices. Just tap in empty space to start, and from there tap on selected block faces to add new blocks. Familiar pinch and swipe gestures control the view.
You can buy the app for $1.99 in the iTunes app store here, so go buy it and avoid getting bored during long Christmas conversations.
