Public Knowledge has published a new whitepaper written by Michael Weinberg titled: ‘What’s the Deal with Copyright and 3D Printing?’. It discusses the potential impact of Copyright Law on the emerging 3D printing industry. The paper is a follow up to the previous paper about 3D printing: ‘It Will Be Awesome if They Don’t Screw It Up: 3D Printing.’
Weinberg describes the difference between useful and creative objects, licensable and non-licensable designs. It explains how the law works now and focuses on questions on copyright ability of files and objects.
