Just the other day I got introduced to this great new 3D printing initiative on the web called WhiteClouds. This nine-months-old company based in Ogden, Utah with (already) a staff of 21 full-timers and 7 part-timers has a great mission: Building the bridge between 3D printing and the general public.
Today, there is a big gap between having heard of 3D printing and being able to do something with it. WhiteClouds is trying to fill that gap by providing two kinds of services. When you don’t have any experience with 3D printing but you’ve got a great idea you would like to realise, WhiteClouds gives you the opportunity to collaborate with their in-house designers. Together you can make your idea come to life, no experience needed!
If you are already a bit familiar with CAD design and you would like to print your creations, WhiteClouds can also do this for you as they have all kinds of 3D printing services to offer. Their lab has 10 top-of-the-line 3d printers that can build objects in 107 different materials. The materials include plastics, resins, full-color sandstone, rubber-like, digital material and more. Some of the printers can print details as fine as 1/5 the thickness of a human hair. With seven commercial printers, like the Connex 500 and ZPrinter 650, and three consumer printers, the WhiteClouds Lab can accommodate nearly any 3D printing project.
Besides their services you can also shop at WhiteClouds. They already have 7,300+ pages of content and products. Here you can buy any of the already existing models, choose your material, let them print it and send it to your house. Great stuff!
