Here’s a new device by 3D Systems: the iSense 3D scanner. This is a consumer 3D scanner, which is easily attachable to an iPad. The great thing about this device will be that it lets you 3D scan objects and even entire environments, while these objects can keep on moving. The iSense scanner is a continuation of the Sense scanner – a hand scanner – by 3D Systems and it uses the exact same software.
With this software users can easily enlarge or reduce the size of the scanned objects as well as they can adapt them. iSense will enter the market at the end of 2014, but 3D Systems already gave a presentation on the device during last weekend’s CES. If you would like to buy your own iSense, it will cost you about €370,-. However, 3D Systems is not the first company to be experimenting with 3D scanning in combination with the iPad. We have to give the gold medal to Structure Sensor, a Kickstarter project that was successfully funded at the 1st of November, last year.
