Bondtech and Prusa Research have announced the Bondtech INDX, an 8-material multi-tool upgrade system for the Prusa CORE One 3D printer. The companies unveiled the product at Formnext 2025 in Frankfurt, positioning it as a solution for users seeking to print with multiple materials in a single job.

The system centers around the INDX Smart Toolhead, which features an aluminum body and a self-adjusting dual-extrusion feeder that adapts to materials of varying hardness without manual adjustments. The toolhead incorporates induction heating and contactless temperature sensing to bring the nozzle from room temperature to operating temperature within seconds. The system uses lightweight INDX Thin Passive Tools with 35mm center-to-center spacing to accommodate up to eight tools on the printer simultaneously.
The collaboration split development responsibilities between the two companies based on their respective expertise areas. Bondtech handled the refinement of the Smart Toolhead and Thin Passive Tools, while Prusa’s team managed integration into the CORE One’s hardware, firmware, and PrusaSlicer software. “When I saw what Bondtech was building, I immediately knew it had the potential to change the perspective of multi-material printing on single-head printers,” says Josef Prusa, CEO of Prusa Research.
The first production run, called the Founders Edition, will include 1,000 units available for pre-order exclusively through Bondtech’s website. Shipping is scheduled for Q1 2026. Visitors to Formnext 2025 can see the system operating at booths F01 and F08 in Hall 12.1.
