Ceratizit has unveiled a new milling system, the MaxiMill-211-DC, that utilizes 3D printing to significantly improve tool life. Designed for machining tough materials like titanium and superalloys, the MaxiMill-211-DC boasts a unique coolant supply thanks to additive manufacturing.
This 3D printed design allows for intricate coolant channels within the tool body, precisely directing coolant to the cutting edges. This innovative approach is reported to extend tool life by an impressive 60% compared to standard cooling systems. Additionally, the MaxiMill-211-DC integrates seamlessly with existing coolant setups, eliminating the need for modifications.
“We’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with additive manufacturing to benefit our customers,” said Dan Cope, Americas President for Ceratizit Group. “Unconventional materials require unconventional solutions, and the MaxiMill-211-DC is a prime example.”
This new milling system demonstrates the power of 3D printing in creating advanced tools for metalworking, specifically for handling challenging materials.
