Tokyo-based design house Sekisai is set to exhibit their new collection, “CO-BREATHING OBJECTS”, at the upcoming SaloneSatellite furniture trade fair. The collection features uniquely developed “Phantasmagorical Skin” that provides a distinct visual effect with colors that change depending on the viewing angle.
The set includes a 3D printed chair, vases, wall decorations, and lighting fixtures. The creators want to encourage interactions between people and items so that people may discover pleasant settings and colors that match their emotions.
The 3D printed chair in “Moon Night Blue” is the collection’s star. The creators used large-scale 3D printing to optimize the aesthetic effect, resulting in a fine pattern on the surface that reflects several lights to produce a sparkling appearance.
This futuristic, 3D-printed chair will share space with Zaha Hadid Design’s Seyun chair at Milan Furniture Fair. Sekisai’s design is being portrayed as “like a flower changing color, a butterfly flying in the sky, and a pulsating life.”
Sekisai’s 3D printed chair intends to make furniture and spaces that resonate with human behavior and breathe together, changing objects from “using” to “communicating” objects.
