Dubai’s advancement in construction technology has taken a significant leap forward with the approval of a 3D printing construction license by the Planning and Development Department (Trakhees). Nakheel, a prominent property developer, received the inaugural license for the Al Furjan Hills project, marking a milestone in Dubai’s embrace of flashy solutions.
The swift completion of the printing process within 20 days of construction commencement has highlighted the efficiency and potential of 3D printing technology. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, emphasized the commitment to implementing regulations supporting 3D printing in construction, aligning with Dubai’s economic and urban development goals.
Trakhees’ dedication to promoting 3D printing technology in construction projects aims to fulfill Dubai’s strategic and lofty objective of having 25% of buildings constructed using this technology by 2030.
Abdullah Belhoul, CEO of Trakhees, highlighted the transformative impact of 3D printing on the construction industry, citing its ability to accelerate project completion, reduce labor costs, and enhance precision in architectural engineering. The technology’s eco-friendly nature and adaptability to non-traditional designs position it as a cornerstone of Dubai’s sustainable urban development.
Furthermore, efforts to integrate 3D printing technology into the Dubai Building Code demonstrate a commitment to ensuring regulatory compliance while embracing technological advancements. By streamlining procedures and adhering to global standards, Dubai solidifies its position as a leader in logistics and commercial innovation.
