IperionX and Vegas Fastener Manufacturing have joined forces to develop and produce titanium alloy fasteners and precision components. This partnership aims to leverage IperionX’s expertise in advanced titanium products for additive manufacturing with Vegas Fastener’s specialization in high-performance fasteners.
The collaboration targets the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC), focusing on research and development in various critical areas such as robotics, autonomy, and survivability. By integrating advanced manufacturing techniques with titanium, the goal is to enhance corrosion resistance and reduce weight in Army ground vehicles.
“We look at the combination of advanced manufacturing and titanium to help us improve both corrosion mitigation and light-weighting in Army ground vehicles,” said Brandon N. Pender, Associate Director at U.S. DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Materials Engineering.
“Any relationship that we can pursue to make titanium more affordable, as IperionX can potentially do, is valuable to us. The potential to produce titanium, with all of its capabilities, that is cost-competitive with aluminum and steel only helps us improve the operational performance and readiness of Army ground systems.”
The partnership extends its reach beyond military applications to cater to sectors like aerospace, naval, and oil & gas. These industries require fasteners with high strength-to-weight ratios and superior corrosion resistance for demanding environments.
