Lithoz Launches LithaGlass Material for 3D Printing

April 4, 2023

Lithoz has announced the launch of LithaGlass. LithaGlass is a new material for the company’s Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) 3D printing technology. Developed in partnership with Glassomer, the material is a composite slurry with a base of quartz glass, resulting from intensive research by both companies.

Glassomer recognized Lithoz’s technology as the only process capable of refining and 3D printing its material with exceptional precision and complexity. The combination of 3D printing’s inherent design freedom and the desirable properties of high-performance fused silica glass offers a range of potential applications. These properties include mechanical stability, high thermal and chemical resistance, low thermal expansion, and high thermal shock resistance.

“Glassomer’s choice of Lithoz’s LCM process as their key technology to achieve this innovation once again proves the sheer potential and flexibility of our system,” said Johannes Homa, Lithoz CEO.

“The new LithaGlass material brings our company one step closer to our vision – finding solutions to every challenge of today with a 3D-printed ceramic answer.”

Unlike standard glasses, such as soda lime glass, LithaGlass is closer to a ceramic material. This unique composition opens up new possibilities in various industries, from aerospace to medical applications.

The successful partnership between Lithoz and Glassomer has led to the creation of a game-changing material that is poised to revolutionize 3D printing and product manufacturing.
