Meltio and One Off Robotics Launch Robotic Work Cell

February 13, 2024

Meltio and One Off Robotics have united to introduce the One Off Robotics Cell, a robust turnkey metal additive manufacturing work cell aimed at streamlining production processes. Engineered in the USA, this innovative system harnesses standard welding wire to fabricate consistent, spatter-free, and pristine parts.

By synergizing Meltio’s disruptive wire-laser metal deposition technology with One Off Robotics’ expertise in robotic additive manufacturing, the collaboration has yielded a cutting-edge solution for diverse industries. The One Off Robotics Cell is adept at generating finely crafted metal components, exhibiting a deposition rate of up to 1 kg per hour. Notably, its precision matches or exceeds that of conventionally manufactured parts, catering to sectors like automotive, aerospace, and mining.

Key to its efficiency is an 8-axis configuration that facilitates intricate geometry printing, complemented by seamless integration with the Meltio Space robotic slicer. The system’s versatility extends to optional enhancements such as thermal SWIR cameras and multi-material dual wire printing, augmenting its speed and capabilities.

Safety remains paramount, with the system housed within a laser-safe enclosure for secure operation. Moreover, comprehensive support including training and instructional materials ensures seamless deployment and operation for end-users.

“Meltio’s main commitment with this new product offering with the One Off Robotics Cell powered by Meltio, Made in the USA is to offer all types of industries the ability to manage the entire manufacturing process using our metal 3D printing technology consisting of a Meltio head integrated into a robotic arm and a safe environment, to just produce parts,” said Meltio Engine Product Manager, Alejandro Nieto.

“This new hardware system allows the customer to receive a ready-to-use cell for robotic metal 3D printing, removing the integration process and long assembly lead times.”

Certified to collaborate with leading robotic arms from KUKA and ABB, the One Off Robotics Cell represents a significant stride towards empowering global industries with Meltio’s additive manufacturing prowess.

“One Off Robotics has spent years designing and building large-format robotic additive manufacturing work cells,” said Nick Johnson, CEO of One Off Robotics.

“We’re thrilled to expand our offerings to include a turnkey Meltio Robotic additive system. Our focus is customer success, so we designed this system from the ground up to be quickly installed and easily operated.”

The One Off Robotics Cell presents a compelling proposition for industries seeking to elevate their manufacturing capabilities, offering a turnkey solution that marries cutting-edge technology with user-friendly operation.
