Designer Marko Lazic has unveiled the Offone, a 3D printed phone with an e-ink display. The Offone is designed to run only essential apps like calls, texts, and messaging platforms. Its compact design fits in the palm and features a screen resembling paper, eliminating glare and blue light to reduce eye strain. Optional backlighting may be added for use in low-light conditions.
The device uses intuitive icons instead of text to navigate apps, eliminating language barriers. Essential apps such as maps, Uber, and Waze are supported, but social media platforms are excluded to maintain a minimalist experience. The device lacks a camera, resembling the simplicity of older keypad phones, yet features a touchscreen.
Targeting business travelers, elderly users, and those seeking a break from constant notifications, the Offone aims to offer a hassle-free communication tool. Lazic has not announced the final screen size or production timeline but has been developing Offone since 2016. The design aligns with a growing trend in minimalist tech, alongside devices like the “Minimal Phone” and weirdly named “A Phone, A Friend” smartphone.
