UltiMaker has introduced its Secure Line of 3D printing products specifically designed for defense and high-security environments. The initial lineup includes the UltiMaker S6 Secure and S8 Secure printers, which are built to operate across land, sea, and air operations while meeting modern defense IT standards.
The Secure Line printers feature air-gapped, USB-only workflows with no Wi-Fi connectivity, external cameras, or unverified third-party devices. Key security specifications include factory-flashed, tamper-resistant firmware, encrypted file handling, hardware-sealed components, and no cloud dependencies. These features are designed to prevent potential security vulnerabilities in sensitive operational environments.
“The Secure Line represents a strategic leap in making additive manufacturing a trusted and deployable asset for defense organizations,” said Andy Middleton, SVP EMEA and Global Marketing at UltiMaker. “By combining industrial-grade 3D printing with uncompromising security, the Secure Line enables the production of mission-critical components at the point of need, safely, reliably, and with full control over their data and infrastructure.”
Both models are engineered for operation in extreme and temperate conditions with compact form factors and rugged construction. The printers use UltiMaker’s Cheetah motion planner, high flow print cores, and an improved feeder system to deliver up to four times the productivity compared to previous models. They support multi-material printing capabilities and are compatible with engineering-grade materials from the UltiMaker Marketplace.
The Secure Line products are manufactured at UltiMaker’s facility in Zaltbommel, Netherlands, following European standards for quality and compliance. The printers are produced in limited batches and tailored to specific defense industry requirements. Availability for qualified defense and aerospace organizations begins immediately, with each printer including a two-year UltiMakerCare service package.
