3D Printed Jewelry Line to Launch from Designer Maeve Gillies

February 14, 2025

Designer Maeve Gillies has created a new jewelry collection using direct metal 3D printing technology with platinum and titanium. The collection, named Tùsaire, consists of 30 unique pieces including necklaces, cuffs, rings, and earrings. The pieces incorporate Scottish rocks and Celtic-inspired designs, with prices ranging from $800 to $35,000 USD.

The collection features hollow designs that combine platinum and titanium in contemporary silhouettes. A notable design element is the contrast between unpolished 3D-printed platinum surfaces and high-polished finishes. Seven pieces in the collection include native Scottish rock specimens, protected by platinum structures.

The centerpiece of the collection is a necklace featuring Scottish Renfrewshire quartz, designed in the style of traditional Celtic Torc jewelry. The use of 3D printing technology allows for lighter weight pieces while maintaining structural integrity in platinum jewelry construction.

“This exciting new technology, and my amazing technical collaborators, have allowed me to start to bring to life my dreams of where Platinum can take us,” said Gillies. PGI’s Global Director of Innovation, Tai Wong, added that the project aims to test platinum 3D printing capabilities and explore new applications in jewelry design.

The Tùsaire collection will make its public debut at the Inhorgenta show in Munich from February 21-24, 2025. Following the show, the pieces will be available through maevegillies.com and select retailers worldwide. The launch will include an educational presentation about the printing technology used in creating the collection.
