LEAP 71 Open Sources PicoGK Software at GITEX Global 2023

October 18, 2023

LEAP 71, a Dubai-based company, announced today the release of PicoGK, an open-source software framework dedicated to Computational Engineering. This technology aims to change the way physical objects are engineered, drawing parallels to the influence of Generative AI in other domains.

Instead of the prolonged human-centric design process that could span weeks or even months, Computational Engineering swiftly creates parts and structures. With it, entire machines are ready for digital manufacturing within minutes, suitable for techniques like industrial 3D printing.

This move by LEAP 71 aligns with other United Arab Emirates entities that have made their AI models freely accessible for both non-commercial and commercial purposes.

Josefine Lissner, Founder and CEO of LEAP 71, remarked, “At our company, we are creating sophisticated machinery using Computational Engineering, in fields from electric mobility to space propulsion; from hydraulic systems, to heat exchangers. But Computational Engineering needs to become a global movement, and any movement needs to be rooted in Free and Open-Source Software.”

PicoGK underpins all of LEAP 71’s Computational Engineering Models. Recently, the firm disclosed a partnership with European space entity, The Exploration Company, to construct rocket engines for cargo spacecraft. Additionally, LEAP 71 will present its innovations on electric motors and heat exchangers at the upcoming COP 28 climate conference.

Interested parties can access the technology immediately under the Apache 2.0 Open-Source License via LEAP 71’s Github repository. The company also has plans to introduce more open-source modules to enhance PicoGK’s functionalities in the future.
