Solidscape’s wax based printing method is a godsend to jewelery manufacturers everywhere. The lost wax process provides accurate and detailed prints from wax positive molds than are meant for various metal casting applications. This unique method is, once again, a staple of their latest device: the S500.
This machine bears a lot of similarities to other printers in the S series (S300 and S350).
That’s not to say detailed printing is not a feature of this machine. It deposits wax at a resolution of 5000 x 5000 dots per inch. It also shows off a detailed surface finish and high integrity casting, thanks to the solidjet technology. As a result, it can recreate the contours of even the most complex models with ease. It can home in on the minutiae of a print.
Another interesting feature is that the proprietary support dissolves completely without any input by the user (hands-free, as the company states). This is courtesy of the Melt-I Dissolvable Support. The solidjet technology also builds wax into the structure of the support.
