VDMA Additive Manufacturing Association to Organize Conference Program for drupa 2020

June 10, 2019

Approximately one year from now from June 16 – 26, tens of thousands of specialists and professionals will gather in Düsseldorf, Germany for drupa 2020, the world’s largest trade fair for the printing, media, and packaging industries; for the first time, the VDMA Additive Manufacturing Association will be responsible for planning the lecture program for the 3D printing arm of the exhibition.

The event draws exhibitors from across a wide range of professions so it’s an ideal place for the VDMA to present content to industry players who are uniquely positioned to leverage additive manufacturing technologies. Nobody better understands that than Rainer Gebhardt, Project Leader of the group who will plan the content of the conference, who said, “It is important for us to address the drupa visitors at their current status of additive manufacturing. Additive design and manufacturing create scope for creativity in many industries. From this point of view, the technology also fits in perfectly with drupa.”

The VDMA working group has grown to 150 members over the five years of its existence, including leading suppliers of 3D printing equipment and materials as well as academic and private researchers. They estimate that 80 lectures will be scheduled during the 10-day event, covering everything from supply chain optimization to custom packaging and advertising aids.

“Since our trade fair participation at drupa 2016 met with a very positive response, it made sense to expand our commitment at drupa 2020 and contribute our know-how,” said Dr. Markus Heering, Managing Director of the VDMA Additive Manufacturing Association. “Many of our members have been pioneers in industrial 3D printing for many years. They bring concentrated practical and theoretical know-how that we want to show visitors at touchpoint 3D fab+print,” he added.

If you’re interested in presenting at drupa 2020, get in touch with Gebhardt, who stated: “We are open to suggestions and will find opportunities in the ten-day program to provide a forum for additive manufacturing applications from the traditional print and packaging industry.”
