Thought3D Launches Magigoo Glide Kit and Supergrip to Improve 3D Print Adhesion

May 30, 2025

Thought3D just introduced two new products designed to meet evolving needs in additive manufacturing. The Magigoo Glide Kit and Magigoo Supergrip respond to the rise of print farms and the shift to flexible build surfaces by delivering precise, reliable first-layer adhesion with minimal waste and maintenance.

Effortless, Precise Application with Magigoo Glide Kit

Thought3D Launches Magigoo Glide Kit and Supergrip to Improve 3D Print Adhesion

Applying adhesive uniformly across multiple print beds can consume critical time and introduce variability. The Magigoo Glide Kit combines a 250 ml refill bottle of Magigoo Original with a custom-engineered roller applicator and lint-free cloth.

  • Consistent Coverage: Thought3D tested various bottle designs and cap mechanisms to ensure smooth, drip-free dispensing. Roller material and surface finish were optimized for heated and textured plates.
  • Extended Yield: One refill delivers over 1,200 applications on a 235 × 235 mm build plate, reducing per-print adhesive costs by more than 70 percent compared with glue sticks or sprays.
  • Ideal for Scale: Fast, even first layers prevent warping and simplify part removal on multi-machine setups, large-format platforms, and high-throughput print farms.

Engineered Grip for Flexible and Coated Surfaces with Magigoo Supergrip

As flexible and coated plates—such as PEI, polycarbonate, and satin sheets—become standard, traditional adhesives often underperform. Magigoo Supergrip’s formulation reflects over 10 years of Magigoo expertise and more than 1,500 hours of stress testing on 15 printer models and 12 surface types.

  • Versatile Material Support: Reliable adhesion across PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, and TPU, even at bed temperatures as low as 45 °C.
  • Long-Lasting Performance: get up to 250 coatings on a 235 × 235 mm plate, with each coating lasting for multiple prints. Easily cleans off with water; isopropyl alcohol can also be used if preferred.
  • Surface Protection: On demand release prevents scraping, flaking, and damage to flexible build sheets, extending plate lifespan.

User-Centered Development and Sustainability

Thought3D’s co-founder Edward Borg emphasizes that direct feedback from service bureaus, print farms, makerspaces and avid Magigoo users, guided every design decision. Multiple roller prototypes and bottle designs were tested to find the best performing combination. Supergrip’s formula is a finely crafted balance between secure adhesion and easy release. Supergrip is the first adhesive specifically designed for flexible build plates and is definitely the best adhesive out there. The team has done a fantastic job as attested by their early adopters who reported reduced downtime, fewer adhesion failures, and simpler plate maintenance.
