We purchased a Modix 120X V3 with 2 extruder heads, and optional enclosure. The machine arrived in 8 boxes, all very well packed and labeled. Assembly took 4 days by primarily one person (with overview by a couple others)
This week we began bed leveling, alignment, etc. we have one bed that is cupped (approx 0.30mm in the center/left portion (Mounted as the left hand build plate). Unclear at this point if it will settle after several heating sessions, or if we will need to contact Modix for a replacement, but it has made bed leveling a bit of a chore. I’ve used paper shims between the rails and beds to tweak what standard leveling setup can not. As of yesterday (by the end of the day) it has a mean level of 0.52mm across the entire build surface. More tweaking to go come Monday.
We have run a couple small test prints, and have some serious layer shifting in those. I’m running the latest Cura slicer, and realize the shifting may very well be in the coding. No blame on the Modix yet at all. These things take time to work through, especially on a printer of this size. Optional slicer and physical machine adjustments etc are all still on the menu.
Just getting started, lots to do, but the printer is very well made, well shipped, instructions are good with lots of images, videos etc. I look forward to dialing everything in and producing our first of many large prints.
