CustoMED, a surgeon-first platforms for patient-specific orthopedic solutions, has completed a $6 million seed funding round. The company’s cloud-based platform uses artificial intelligence and 3D printing to create patient-specific surgical tools and implants from surgeons’ pre-operative plans. The process reduces production time from weeks to minutes, with devices manufactured onsite or through certified partners. According to the company, the technology has been used in hundreds of surgeries worldwide.

CustoMED originated from Sheba Medical Center’s 3D Printing & Innovation Lab, which was established in 2018. The startup was founded by Dr. Amit Zabatani, Or Benifla, and Alon Jacobi, and operates within Sheba Medical Center’s ARC Innovation ecosystem. “CustoMED’s patient-specific surgical tools enable more precise orthopedic surgeries through affordable, real-time solutions delivered directly into the operating room,” said Or Benifla, Co-founder of CustoMED.
The funding will support expansion into additional orthopedic applications and regulatory approvals in the U.S. and EU, which are expected by 2026. CustoMED plans to scale its on-demand manufacturing model globally. The company aims to make computer-guided surgery more accessible and integrate it into standard surgical workflows.
