Studio RAP has completed a large-scale 3D printed ceramic installation at Dubai’s Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab hotel. The project, titled “Blue Voyage,” consists of two ceramic walls positioned at the main lobby entrance. Each wall measures six meters in height and nine meters in length.

The installation comprises approximately 900 unique ceramic tiles that were designed parametrically and 3D printed at Studio RAP’s Rotterdam facility. The tiles form flowing, wave-like patterns inspired by the movement of the nearby Gulf waters. The design creates varying densities and depths across the surface that interact with changing light conditions.
The production process maintained precision in tile fit and surface quality while allowing variation across individual modules. Corner tiles were specifically developed to wrap patterns seamlessly around edges. This approach minimizes visual interruption and emphasizes continuity across the installation.

According to the studio, Blue Voyage represents one of the largest 3D printed ceramic architectural installations completed to date. The project continues Studio RAP’s work exploring how computational design and digital fabrication can expand the technical and expressive possibilities of ceramics in architecture.
