3D printing in construction, also known as contour crafting or building printing, is what many believe the future of construction. The printing of buildings has a lot of potential advantages when compared to conventional construction methods. There are lower labor costs involved, construction can be done quicker and there is less to no waste produced. The concrete waste and failed prints that do occur can be reused as raw material for printing.
This technique can also be used for the construction of extraterrestrial structures on for instance the Moon or other planets where environmental conditions are less conductive to human labor-intensive building practices.
