KSB Group, based in Frankenthal, Germany, has become the inaugural recipient of the DNV AMC 3 certification for additive manufacturing. Leveraging AM technology early on, KSB can swiftly and efficiently produce small quantities and intricate one-off products.
Specializing in pumps and valves, KSB has amassed a decade-long expertise in metal-based Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) AM at its Pegnitz facility, operating four systems dedicated to this method. These systems utilize materials such as stainless steel, nickel-base alloys, and iron-based metal powders.
Notably, one of KSB’s systems earned the ‘Qualification of Manufacturer’ certificate, achieving Level AMC 3 for the impeller part family, while others were accredited at Level AMC 1 for all part families. This certification enables expedited supply of spare parts, particularly beneficial for the oil and gas and power station sectors.
The adoption of AM for both new and spare parts offers operators the flexibility of on-demand part production, reducing inventory costs, particularly in the oil and gas industry’s various applications. With DNV’s highest certification, AMC 3, KSB can now provide a broad range of spare parts manufactured to rigorous industry standards, ensuring prompt delivery and operational continuity for clients.
KSB Group’s attainment of DNV AMC 3 certification marks a significant advancement in AM applications, promising enhanced efficiency and reliability in spare parts supply for critical industrial sectors.
