Flashforge has launched two new multi-colour 3D printers that take a fundamentally different approach to multi-material printing. The Creator 5 and Creator 5 Pro both use FlashSwap, a 4-toolhead tool-changer system that physically swaps entire print heads instead of feeding filament through a single shared nozzle. The result is near-zero purge waste and dramatically faster colour changes.
Final payment is now live through June 20. Early bird pricing starts at $649 for the Creator 5 and $799 for the Creator 5 Pro.
Flashforge Creator 5
Open frame CoreXY | 4 toolheads | Near-zero purge waste
Save $150 at launch
The Creator 5 takes a fundamentally different approach to multi-colour printing. Instead of a single nozzle fed by an external filament hub, it has four independent toolheads that physically swap in and out of position using the FlashSwap system. There is no purge block, no waste tower, and no filament loading cycle between colour changes. Flashforge’s own benchmark shows this in practice: a multi-colour Rubik’s Cube takes 2.6 hours and 47.5g of filament on the Creator 5 versus 16 hours and 290g on a conventional purge-based system. That is 84% less time and 84% less material. With 600mm/s print speed, 30,000mm/s2 acceleration, and support for mixing PLA, TPU, PETG, PVA, and composite materials simultaneously in a single print, this is a serious machine at an accessible price.
Best for: Makers who do a lot of multi-colour printing and want to eliminate purge waste and waiting time, printing primarily with PLA, PETG, TPU, and composites.
Flashforge Creator 5 Pro
Fully enclosed CoreXY | 4 toolheads | 65°C heated chamber | HEPA filtration
Save $150 at launch
The Creator 5 Pro takes everything in the standard Creator 5 and adds a fully enclosed, actively heated chamber. The enclosure does two things: it raises the internal temperature to 65°C for reliable printing of engineering materials like ABS, ASA, PC, and PA that would warp in an open-frame machine, and it contains fumes from those same materials using a dual-layer filtration system with an H13 HEPA medical-grade filter and premium coconut carbon. Noise is reduced from 65dB on the open Creator 5 to 55dB on the Pro. The Pro also switches to continuous airflow cooling mode when printing PLA, PETG, and TPU with the door closed, so the enclosure is not just for engineering materials but improves results across the board. At $799 early bird, it is the lowest-priced enclosed 4-toolhead tool-changer currently available.
Best for: Makers who need engineering material support (ABS, ASA, PC, PA), care about air quality, or want a quieter machine suitable for home or office use.
Creator 5 vs Creator 5 Pro: which one to choose?
Both printers use the same FlashSwap 4-toolhead system and have identical build volumes and print speeds. The $150 price difference buys you the enclosure, heated chamber, air filtration, and engineering material support.
Choose the Creator 5 if you print primarily with PLA, PETG, TPU, and composites and want the lowest entry price. Choose the Creator 5 Pro if you print engineering materials, want air filtration for fumes from ABS or ASA, or need a quieter machine for a home or shared workspace. Note that the Creator 5 cannot be upgraded to the Pro later as they have structural differences and are sold separately.
