Sean Wotherspoon, the American sneaker designer and vintage collector, has launched a new footwear collection with 3D printing company Zellerfeld. Named “Sean Double U,” the collection includes two distinct designs: a sneaker focused on movement and a mule designed for comfort. The products are now available through Zellerfeld’s online store, with the sneaker priced at $189 USD and the mule at $149 USD.
Both footwear options are produced using 3D printing technology, allowing them to be manufactured from a single recyclable material without glue or stitching. Customers can receive custom-fitted products by completing a foot scan through Zellerfeld’s platform. Each pair is made to order specifically for the individual customer.
“Sean Double U is about the different sides we all have,” said Wotherspoon. “The sneaker is for motion. The mule is for slowing down. I wanted pieces that move with every version of you.”
The collaboration takes advantage of Zellerfeld’s rapid prototyping capabilities, which enabled quick design iterations during development. Wotherspoon noted the significance of this approach: “Most companies tell you what you cannot do. Zellerfeld built a stack where you design what you want, when you want. We could tweak a design in the morning and hold a prototype by the afternoon.”
This partnership adds to Wotherspoon’s growing portfolio, which already includes previous collaborations with major brands such as adidas, Gap, and Porsche. His entry into the 3D-printed footwear space represents an expansion of his design work into new manufacturing techniques.
