The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has introduced the SME Additive Manufacturing Production Club, acknowledging companies for their contributions to additive manufacturing production. This exclusive club applauds manufacturers across diverse sectors for their production of commercial parts using 3D printing technologies.
Led by Stacey DelVecchio, chair of SME’s Additive Manufacturing Technical Community Leadership Committee, the club signifies a commitment to technology and leading by example in bringing additive manufacturing parts to production. It acknowledges the dedication of these manufacturers in advancing the industry and enhancing competitiveness.
The SME AM Production Club comprises four levels: 50K, 25K, 10K, and 5K, categorized by the volume of production achieved in a calendar year. Eligibility is based on the production volume of a specific part or product using additive manufacturing within the year.
To qualify, each part or product must meet the production volume threshold for its respective category. For instance, companies producing a broad product line of medical implants would be ineligible, while individual product families within that line would qualify. Similarly, jewelry items with variations in size and decoration would be eligible as long as the core function remains consistent.
Members joining by May 6, 2024, will receive on-site recognition at RAPID + TCT in Los Angeles, California, June 25-27, 2024. This recognition includes signage in the venue and exhibition area, with members at the 50K level spotlighted on stage during the AM Industry Awards.
