Formlabs Launches Form Studio 1 Resin Printer From $699

October 14, 2026

Formlabs has opened worldwide orders for the Form Studio 1, a resin printer that starts at $699 and ships from 16 November. The enclosed machine is aimed at small offices, workshops, and homes without a vented room for resin.

Form Studio 1 runs a new print engine built on the Low Force Display approach of the Form 4, with a custom lens array and 28 LEDs delivering an even 6 milliwatts per square centimeter across the vat. Pixels are 35 microns, lower peel forces and light-touch supports leave cleaner surfaces, and the printer is rated to finish most jobs in less than two hours.

Formlabs says it is the first resin printer to earn UL GREENGUARD Gold certification, which applies when it runs the new Alpha Resins with the Formlabs VOC Extractor. With the extractor, total emissions drop below 220 µg/m³ under the UL 2819 standard, while the fully enclosed print chamber and low-odor resins already allow use without a tent, an enclosure, or dedicated ventilation. The six resins, Grey, White, Black, Clear, Model, and Fast, start at $29 a liter. Alpha Model targets very fine detail and Alpha Fast is the fastest resin Formlabs has made. All six are rated under ISO 10993 for skin contact longer than 30 days, meaning printed parts are non-cytotoxic, non-irritating, and non-sensitizing after the recommended post-processing.

Resin cartridges dispense and heat automatically, and the flexible build platform uses Quick Release Technology for print removal. An optional Resin Tank Pro, with a highly durable and chemically resistant film, opens the printer to a wider range of third-party materials. Third-party testing measured a 98.7 percent print success rate on the Form 4, and Form Studio 1 shows a comparable rate so far, with its reliability testing still in progress.

“We started Formlabs to build the Form 1 and make professional resin printing accessible to more people,” said Maxim Lobovsky, co-founder and CEO of Formlabs. “Form Studio 1 takes that ambition to the next level. Affordability matters, but so does getting great parts without hours of tuning.”

A Founder’s Edition in graphite, aqua, teal, and violet runs through November 30, or while supplies last. Form Studio Wash+Cure, a compact unit that washes and cures parts from the printer, goes on sale at the same time, and the VOC Extractor also fits the Form 4. The Form mobile app now monitors and controls Form Studio 1, Form 4, and Form 4L jobs remotely, with a live camera feed and a notice when a print finishes or needs attention. Projects in PreForm hold several build volumes in one file, stage parts, and lay them out across platforms before printing.

The launch also brings Nylon 11 Pro Powder for the Fuse X1 and the Fuse 1+ 30W, with more than three times the elongation at break of Nylon 12, for snap fits, living hinges, thin-walled enclosures, and orthotics. Additionally, the on-demand printing service, now takes orders on the web or directly from PreForm, with SLA and SLS parts in more than 28 engineering-grade materials delivered in as little as two days in the United States.
