Fabric8Labs Partners with AEWIN to Deploy ECAM Technology for Thermal Management Solutions

May 14, 2025

Fabric8Labs has partnered with AEWIN Technologies to develop thermal management solutions for Edge AI systems. The collaboration will utilize Fabric8Labs’ Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM) technology to create 3D cooling structures for high-density computing applications. AEWIN plans to implement this technology in their next generation of network platforms.

The ECAM process enables the production of pure copper components with high resolution, addressing thermal challenges in advanced computing. According to the companies, ECAM-produced 3D micro-mesh boiler plates show thermal improvements exceeding 1.3 °C/100W compared to alternatives. These structures increase surface area by over 900%, creating a capillary network that improves coolant circulation.

“Our collaboration with AEWIN represents a significant step forward toward the future of thermal management. We are thrilled to support AEWIN by enabling them to achieve their sustainability targets and meet the growing power demands of advanced AI accelerators,” said Ian Winfield, Fabric8Labs’ Vice President of Product & Applications.

AEWIN’s new cooling solutions will be compatible with both PFAS and PFAS-free coolants, providing flexibility for different cooling methods. The integration of ECAM technology reportedly allows for Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratings below 1.02. This improvement addresses the increasing power and cooling demands of AI workloads.

“The exponential growth of data and Edge AI complexity requires the most advanced on-premises computing. Through our advanced system-level design, we are able to leverage Fabric8Labs’ ECAM technology to optimize solutions for high efficiency, power usage effectiveness, and reduced total cost of ownership,” said Dr. Liu, Director of the Advanced Technical Development Division at AEWIN Technologies.

AEWIN will showcase their two-phase immersion system featuring Fabric8Labs’ boiler plates at Computex 2025, Booth No. M0120. Based in San Diego, Fabric8Labs was founded in 2015 and focuses on additive manufacturing for electronics, medical devices, and semiconductor applications. AEWIN Technologies, part of the Qisda Business Group, has over 20 years of experience in networking platforms and industrial servers.
