Creality K2 Plus Combo Set to Transform Multicolor 3D Printing

November 11, 2024

The color-capable K2 Plus has generated significant excitement since Creality announced its arrival in the spring of 2024. As Creality puts it, “Your dreams in color come true” with the launch of the K2 Plus x CFS Combo, officially available from November 11, 2024. Combining multicolor capabilities, impressive speed, advanced intelligence, and a generous 350mm cubed build volume, this 3D printer combo represents the next phase in Creality’s renowned K series, catering to both professionals and dedicated hobbyists.

Introducing the CFS for Enhanced Multicolor Printing

The Creality Filament System (CFS) is at the heart of the K2 Plus’s multicolor functionality. Acting as a high-quality filament box, the CFS includes four slots, each capable of holding a 1kg spool. By connecting up to four CFS units, users can integrate up to 16 colors into a single 3D print, eliminating the need for post-print painting. Additionally, the CFS allows users to utilize support materials that are either snap-away or water-soluble, enabling easy removal without leaving marks on the model.

Beyond color management, the CFS incorporates intelligent features, including automatic filament selection, switching, and relaying. When an RFID-equipped filament is loaded, the CFS reads and transmits its color and type to the printer for seamless synchronization. In cases where a spool runs low, the system can automatically switch to a similar spool to avoid interruptions and reduce waste. Furthermore, the CFS is designed with air-tight storage, complete with temperature and humidity displays, and features a spring-loaded batten bar to ensure the spools remain securely in place.

A High-Performance Printer with Substantial Build Volume

The K2 Plus stands as a formidable 3D printing powerhouse, boasting a substantial 350x350x350mm build volume. This size is ideal for creating large prototypes and end-use parts directly on the desktop. Equipped with industry-grade FOC step-servo motors on all axes, the K2 Plus is capable of achieving up to 32,768 micro-steps per motor revolution, ensuring smooth operation even at high speeds. Users can print at 600mm/s with an impressive acceleration rate of 30,000mm/s², while still maintaining quality.

The K2 Plus also features a robust exoskeleton, reinforced XYZ axis, and a closed-frame design. Operating at 300mm/s, the K2 Plus produces only 45dB of noise—about the same as quiet typing on a laptop. This makes it a viable option for workspaces where low noise is essential, allowing it to operate as a powerful yet unobtrusive tool for creators.

Material Flexibility and Superior Print Quality

Designed for versatility, the K2 Plus includes an actively heated chamber that reaches temperatures up to 60°C, enabling strong and reliable prints with advanced materials like ASA and PPA. The direct drive extruder can reach temperatures of 350°C, with a flow rate of up to 40mm³/s. Constructed for durability, the nozzle tip is made from hardened steel, allowing it to handle wear-resistant materials without clogging or frequent maintenance.

The print quality is another standout feature. Thanks to the printer’s heavy-weight design, vibrations are minimized, achieving dimensional accuracy within 0.05mm. The K2 Plus also eliminates ringing at any speed. Dual auxiliary cooling fans on either side of the chamber ensure optimal cooling, preserving the shape and style of parts while preventing issues like stringing and warping.

AI and Automation for Enhanced Workflow Efficiency

Equipped with 18 smart sensors, the K2 Plus automates and monitors every aspect of the printing process. The printer includes two AI cameras: one positioned inside the chamber to detect potential issues like spaghetti failure, and another on the toolhead to optimize the flow rate. This real-time monitoring minimizes risks of underfeeding and overfeeding, helping users achieve consistent results.

The K2 Plus arrives ready to use, resembling a plug-and-play appliance. With independently motorized dual Z-axes, it automatically adjusts for bed tilt and performs auto-leveling, ensuring an expert-quality first layer every time. Additional features include active belt tensioning, air purification, high-speed dual-band WiFi, and a host of other automation tools.

On the software side, Creality has enhanced its ecosystem for optimal multicolor printing. The latest Creality OS supports multi-filament management, while the updated Creality Print software fully accommodates multicolor 3MF models. Additionally, the Creality Cloud App provides a wide selection of 3D models and features, catering to various project needs.

In summary, the Creality K2 Plus Combo opens new possibilities for desktop 3D printing, with features designed to push creative boundaries. Available now in Creality’s online stores, the K2 Plus Combo is positioned to become an essential tool for those who require a reliable, versatile, and efficient 3D printing solution.
