HP Celebrates 10 Million Printed Parts Milestone

April 3, 2019

With their multi-jet fusion technology really taking off, HP is hitting great strides in the 3D printing world. In fact, the technology is doing so well that HP is celebrating having printed 10 million parts in this year alone. The world-famous company is commemorating the occasion by also adding in the launch of a metal jet production service.

Early on, it was clear that the speed and cost-cutting that MJF provided was going to be a major draw. Since then, many industries have taken up HP’s technology, including Daimler Trucks North America, Fast Radius, Linear AMS and the US Marine Corps. It appears all those partners contributed to a massive boost in production.

3D Printing as a Production Technology

“More than 10 million parts were produced on HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology in the last year. We are seeing an explosion of new applications across industries taking advantage of the design freedom, superior economics, speed, and industrial-grade quality unlocked by HP and its partners,” said Christoph Schell, President of 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing, HP Inc. “As we continue to expand our plastics and metals portfolio across both prototyping and production, and build out our community of global partners, we are helping customers save money, accelerate time to market, and improve sustainability as they progress on their digital manufacturing journey.”

HP also recently added the 500/300 series Multi Jet Fusion 3D printers to their line. This expansion is sure to add to the usage of their machines as they boast lower-cost solutions. The line offers a mode of production complementary to HP’s industrial-grade systems while enabling prototyping and production in one machine. As HP celebrates their latest milestone, it’s clear that they have plans ahead as well.

HP Metal Jetting Service

HP Celebrates 10 Million Printed Parts Milestone

“The benefits of the HP Multi Jet Fusion-enabled production service offered by Fast Radius provides customers with enormous application design, production, and supply chain benefits,” said Lou Rassey, CEO, Fast Radius. “From reduced warehousing and obsolescence, and a lower carbon footprint, our collaboration with HP is truly bringing out the real value of additive manufacturing for businesses around the world.”

The company is also rolling along with their new metal jetting service. The company is touting HP Metal Jet as the most advanced production-grade printing technology for high volume manufacturing. They attribute this to it offering 50 times more productivity at lower costs than competing methods. With their metal jetting service now widely available, companies can leverage the technology themselves.

As part of the metal 3D printing service, customers can now upload 3D design files and receive functional metal parts in large quantities. HP partners GKN Powder Metallurgy and Parmatech will be aiding in production. Perhaps HP will also be celebrating their next milestone on metal parts. We’ll have to wait and see.
